Most people think about a garden table as being somewhere to enjoy a nice meal whenever they have company or a barbecue perhaps. But they are a lot more versatile than that when you really start to think about it.
For example, they could become a home office during nicer weather. It is perfectly possible to grab your laptop and sit outside and work, after all. Provided you have everything you need and you get yourself properly set up, you could spend several hours outside using the garden table as your work station. It’s one of the perks of working from home! Even if you don’t have wireless internet it would be easy to get plenty done outside – and it isn’t always as distracting as you might think.
A good solid garden table is also a worthwhile thing to have if you are a regular gardener. Obviously it looks good in your garden anyway but if you regularly find yourself experimenting with cuttings and so on, a table is a great place to sort them out. Otherwise you would find yourself sitting on the floor doing it. And if you have tried that in the past you will know that you can only do it for a limited amount of time before getting cramp!
A garden table can also turn a shady corner of your garden into a quiet peaceful oasis. We don’t think of a humble table as being capable of doing something like this, but it can. If you have a space underneath a tree or in a corner that can be cleared, this will work just fine. If it is away from the house, and in a secluded spot, this is even better.
You could also use it as a games table. Indeed, some garden tables come with grids already designed on them so they can be used for chess and other similar games. These work well with heavy games pieces as they don’t have the tendency to blow away if there is a reasonable breeze.
In the end you can see that simply having a table in your garden gives you a lot more versatility to enjoy the garden itself. You can think about having breakfast and reading the paper out there, instead of sitting indoors. And when friends come over you can enjoy a drink and some snacks instead of staying inside.
And of course you don’t just have to have one garden table either. The best idea is to have a big garden table that will seat several people – say four or more – and then something smaller. A bistro set seats two people and is ideal for using in a quiet corner somewhere. You can still get parasols for these as well, so you won’t have to worry about getting burnt in hot weather.
So think about all the ways your garden table could come in useful. The more you use them, the more you will enjoy your garden as well.
